Requirements: AET Level 4/Grade 9 – Grade 12/NCV Level 4, experience in the Hospital Environment. Knowledge of the Food Service industry will be added as an advantage. Good communication (verbal & written) skills. Applicants should have a basic and knowledge, understanding of food safety and various hygiene practice necessary in the food service unit. Applicants should understand the Batho Pele Principles in relation to the food service unit. Must be willing to work shifts, public holidays, and weekends. Preference will be given to EPWP employees.

Duties: Perform specific duties regarding receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, dishing up, and distribution of food and snacks, for patients on normal and special diets. Assist with the preparation of food for normal and therapeutic diets including snacks, cooking, and dishing up for the patients according to portion control measures. Ensure that portions served are according to the stipulated dietary allowances. Pack food on delivery trollies according to the wards. Responsible for the general cleanliness and hygiene of the food service unit and practicing the clean-as-you-work rules (cleaning of the floor, storage, utensils, and equipment, waste segregation, and sanitation in the food service). Wear appropriate uniform and protective clothing. Operate and care for equipment. Report broken equipment and any faulty equipment as well as any observed risks. Rotate to different areas in the food service units and undergo food service work-related training.
