Requirements: Grade 10 qualification (authentic school report), not less than 12 months of relevant experience. Valid code 8 driver’s license, knowledge of the Gauteng Province and surrounding areas. Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle confidential information. KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the road safety rules and driver’s responsibilities to ensure the safety of passengers. Procedures to perform messenger functions and routine office support functions, for example, filing, photocopying, replacing paper in the photocopiers, petty cash requisitions, collecting mail from the post box, and handling and delivering official documents. Procedures to operate the motor vehicle, to obtain trip authorities, complete the log book, obtain the petrol card, refuel the vehicle, check the oil level and replace as necessary, check the tire pressure, replace the pressure in tires, check and replace water coolant, check the radiator, check the vehicle for damage, arrange the servicing of the vehicle. Knowledge of the transport policy to ensure the vehicle is being operated within the prescribed transport regulations. Procedures to ensure that the motor vehicle is maintained and cleaned inside and outside of the vehicle.
Duties: Drive a light to the medium motor vehicle to transport passengers and deliver mail and documents. Ensure the vehicle is clean, refueled, and ready for each trip. Attend to routine maintenance on the vehicle and report defects timely. Complete all the required and prescribed records and log books. Maintain a register of mail and documents and ensure these are signed upon receipt and delivery. Render a clerical support/messenger service.
